Sisters dancers perform at fair

The Sisters Dance Academy was invited to perform at the Deschutes County Fair this year on Wednesday, July 31. The dance studio took some 30 dancers to perform pieces that they had performed in their dance recital in June. One of the group numbers showcased eight dancers who recently attended the Sisters Dance Academy's week-long summer dance camp performing a contemporary, hip-hop and Broadway dance.

The dancers performed on the big stage at the center of the fair grounds and enjoyed inspiring the audience with their patriotic theme: "Proud to be an American."

Jim Erickson, one of the event coordinators for the Deschutes County Fair, was thrilled to have a group representing Sisters. He told Lonnie Liddell, director of the dance studio, that he would really love to have more performers from Sisters at next year's fair. According to Liddel, he was excited at the idea of inviting Americana Project students to do a performance as well as any other interested community members.

Those interested in performing at next year's fair should contact Lonnie Liddell for more information on how to get involved.

Sisters Dance Academy will host a free open house and dance sampler day on Saturday, August 17.

Aspiring dancers will be able to try tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop, funk, Broadway, contemporary and Irish (depending on age group). Call 541-280-7159 for specific times.

The Sisters Dance Academy will start a new session of dance beginning Tuesday, September 3. View the schedule and register online at www.sistersdanceacademy.com or call 541-280-7159 for more information.
