Closures lifted on Green Ridge Fire

The Green Ridge Fire near Camp Sherman is now 95 percent contained and remains at 1,510 acres. There are 204 personnel assigned this morning. Personnel will slowly decrease over the next few days as mop-up and repair of suppression damage is accomplished. The fire will remain staffed throughout the week. Light smoke may still be visible in the Metolius Basin as fuels within the fire perimeter continue to burn. Base camp will remain at Sisters Middle School.

At 8 a.m. Tuesday, August 13, the Lower Bridge, Allen Springs, and Pioneer Ford Campgrounds are re-opening as well as the Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery and Forest 14. The current Area Forest Closure will be eased to include only the fire perimeter and roads within the fire perimeter. No through travel within the fire will be allowed. Details and updates to this closure will be posted on the Deschutes National Forest web site, http://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/centraloregon/alerts-notices.
