Boys soccer continues to win

The Outlaws posted two more wins this past week: An 8-0 shutout over Redmond on Thursday, September 12, and, two days later, a narrow 2-1 victory over Henley.

In Thursday's action Sisters posted three goals within five minutes of play to take an early 3-0 lead.

Jake McAllister scored at the 10-minute mark with a goal that he sent into the right corner of the net thanks to a Colton Mannhalter assist. In the 13th minute Evan Rickards' pass was blocked by a defenders' hand and he finished with a PK. Two minutes later, Rickards ran corner on the right side and crossed the ball to Justin Harrer who punched it in for the goal.

At the half Sisters held a 3-0 advantage.

Eight minutes into the second half, Rickards crossed a corner kick to Harrer, who settled it in for an easy finish.

The Outlaws tallied three additional goals within a two-minute period.

Keenan O'Hern assisted Rickards, who sent it into the net with a left-footed goal and then Gabe Willitts sent a ball from the backfield to a streaking McAllister for an easy breakaway goal. The trio of goals ended when Mannhalter sent the ball to McAllister up the right side who crossed a beautiful ball for a Keenan O'Hern header.

Sisters' final goal came with five minutes left in the contest. McAllister broke away through the defense from the midfield for an easy goal and sealed the win.

McAllister led the Outlaws' scoring with a hat trick, followed by Rickards and Harrer, who recorded two goals each.

The Outlaws outshot Redmond 31-5 and prevented the Panthers from good looks at the goal. Sisters connected on three of 21 shots in the first half and on five of 10 shots in the second half.

Coach Rob Jensen said, "We found a good flow in the second half and started connecting some passes. We were able to start forming some connections and develop chemistry. The boys worked hard and brought some good intensity to the game."

Jensen noted that O'Hern and Ben Pope both played well in the goal, and center middies Jadon Bachtold and Mannhalter controlled the midfield nicely.

On Saturday, the Outlaws defeated the Henley Hornets in a tight contest.

Sisters got on the scoreboard at the 12-minute mark. Ben Larson passed the ball forward to McAllister who turned the corner and blasted a shot into the goal.

The game went back and forth between the two squads and then Henley tied it up in the 20th minute. Henley scored off a corner kick when the ball took an odd bounce right to one of the Hornet players, who tapped it in.

Sisters had some great opportunities but couldn't finish. At the half the score was even at 1-1.

McAllister scored Sisters' final goal in the second half when Evan Rickards passed a perfect ball through the defense and Jake beat the keeper.

The Outlaws finished with 15 shots on goal compared to Henley, who only tallied two. Sisters also out-shot the Hornets 35-9.

Jensen noted several key players in the game:

"Jake (McAllister) again dominated up front and beat defenders consistently for good shots. Ben (Larson) and Evan (Rickards) took away Henley's transition on the wings, and the outside defenders Ron Killian and Casey Lane did a great job all around. Keenan O'Hern had a great game in goal and he used his speed to thwart Henley's attempts at long balls in transition.

"Overall we were able to execute the game plan and played tremendous defense," added Jensen. "Offensively we are beginning to find some flow and are getting really good looks at the opponents' goal."

Sisters will travel to Elmira on Thursday, September 19, and the following Tuesday will play at Junction City.
