Carolyn was born near Albany, Oregon in 1935 to John and Thelma Sheppard.
She graduated from Albany High School and Oregon State College and taught in Albany for 33 years. She received her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Oregon State University.
Carolyn retired and moved to Sisters with her husband, Daniel Burdick.
She established "Masterpiece Arabians" and belonged to the Central Oregon Arabian Horse Club.
She had a life-long love of flowers and animals, especially horses.
She was a member of the New Hope Christian Church.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Daniel Burdick; son, Keith Schmidtke; nephew, Steve Sheppard; and niece, Becky Pershing.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 21, 1 p.m. at Sisters Community Church, 1300 McKenzie Hwy., Sisters.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Sisters New Hope Christian Center Mission Fund or Sisters Habitat for Humanity.
