News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce announces the 38th annual Sisters Harvest Faire, Saturday and Sunday, October 12-13, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Over 150 juried artisan vendors will be present selling quality handcrafted items including pottery, metal art, photography, painting, jewelry, clothing, furniture, home décor, specialty foods and more.
For 38 years Sisters has been celebrating the changing season with this festival of handmade artisan goods and food. The annual Harvest Faire boasts hands-on activities, educational opportunities, and good old-fashioned fun not found anywhere else, including free live music provided by The Anvil Blasters. This year, the Kids Zone is presented by Sisters Park & Recreation District, complete with a bounce house, basketball free-throws, cookie decorating, snow cones, crafts and games.
"The Sisters Harvest Faire is a great place to find all of those one-of-a-kind items from up-and-coming artists that just aren't available in stores, and the entertainment and food make me feel like a kid again," said John Rivera, events coordinator for the Sisters Area Chamber of Commerce. "I love inviting people to Sisters to meander downtown. Our charm and hospitality are immediately evident, and the Harvest Faire is no different."
Artists this year include Terry & Cari Papen from Red Prairie Ranch Crafts in Crooked River Ranch, Oregon, specializing in metal arts; Jerry Polan from The Wooden Feather in La Pine who makes whimsical wood carvings of birds and feathers; and Curtis Norquist from Canby, who crafts soaps, hand creams, and lotions from goat milk.
Have a meal at the food court featuring brick-oven-fired pizza from The Pizza Cart, authentic Asian food from The China Station, fresh corn-on-the-cob from Outlaw Tribe Cafe, and many other choices.
