Boys soccer notches ninth victory

The boys soccer team seems invincible. The Outlaws continue to knock off league foes one by one. Sisters defeated Elmira 11-0 at home on Tuesday, October 8, and posted their ninth straight victory of the season.

Sisters scored four of their 11 goals in the first half of the contest.

Jadon Bachtold started off the scoring at the 13-minute mark. Bachtold trapped a cross from Jake McAllister and volleyed it into the goal. Four minutes later, McAllister broke free from outside the 18-yard box and crushed an upper-right corner shot.

In the 23rd minute Connor Schaab had a beautiful cross to Jake McAllister who headed it in for the goal. Three minutes later, Schaab was tackled in the penalty box and Ron Kilian scored on the PK.

The Outlaws racked up seven more goals in the second half for the shutout.

In the 48th minute Bachtold beat the defense up the middle for the score and the Outlaws went up 5-0.

At the 52-minute mark McAllister scored off a shot from the left side, and just three minutes later Jardon Weems trapped a ball at 45 yards out and ripped a line drive that blew past the keeper.

Billy Biggers assisted Bachtold for an easy goal midway through the second half and the Outlaws went up 8-0.

The Outlaws scored quick goals, at the 65- and 66-minute marks, which put the game out of reach. Evan Rickards scored off a one-two combo pass from Justin Harrer and one minute later Rickards returned the favor and assisted Justin for a goal.

The scoring spree came to an end four minutes before the final whistle blew. Ethan Stengel assisted Rickards for a nice shot to the right side of the net for the score.

Bachtold had a breakthrough game and posted his first-ever hat trick (three goals).

Coach Rob Jensen noted that Jardon Weems and Gabe Willitts played with great defensive energy and put the ball back into the hands of the offense.

"Overall, the guys got better as the game progressed," said Jensen.

Evan Rickards told The Nugget he feels the Outlaws can compete with the best.

"We are improving every man, and if we play to our potential we are as good as anyone in the state, and our record reflects this," said Rickards.

The Outlaws will play at Cottage Grove on Thursday, October 17. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m.
