Sixth-grade volleyball undefeated

The 6th-grade team played seven matches this season, competing against the Bend middle schools (Sky View, Cascade, Pilot Butte, High Desert). Each match was the best of three sets (two sets to 25 and one set to 15).

The Outlaws went undefeated, never losing a match, and only lost two sets the entire season.

"It was an amazing season for these girls who have continued to get better and better," said parent and assistant coach Jason Myhre."We repeatedly had coaches and parents from opposing teams come and tell us how exciting it is to watch our girls play. One of the officials actually plans his court assignments to be able to officiate whatever court our girls were playing on."

The Outlaws were the only sixth-grade team in the league running an offense with designated setters. When most of the other teams had goals of simply returning a serve, our girls were actually passing to their setter to set up a hitter.

"A lot of the girls have been playing together for the last few years, and that synergy really embraced the new girls that just started playing this year," said Myhre. "It was great to see the more experienced players rally around the new girls. It will be exciting to see the future for these girls. The one thing that they did experience this year that wasn't there in years past is the big target that the Bend teams have put on them. They are now the team to beat in the sixth grade."
