News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Outlaws boys soccer team won their first-ever state championship Saturday, while back at home, students put on a stellar musical theater production of "Guys & Dolls."
The weekend's events demonstrated once again the excellence of Sisters' co-curricular programs and the outstanding opportunities offered to young people growing up in this small community.
It should never be forgotten that these young people reach for the stars standing on the shoulders of dozens and dozens of volunteers who dedicate countless hours and financial and other resources to ensure those opportunities continue to be available for each cohort that moves through Sisters' schools.
And on Sunday night, the community packed The Belfry for a fundraising benefit for Katy Yoder, who is battling cancer. Again, volunteers stepped up to create a magical night that not only fulfilled its fundraising mission, but brought people together in a profound act of fellowship.
That spirit will carry on through the season, with countless charity drives and individual acts of kindness.
Hats off to the volunteers.
