Amonté finds a home in Sisters

Folks in Sisters don't have to travel to Redmond to enjoy the Amonté Salon & Spa experience. After six years of traveling down the road summer and winter, Allie Stout and Heather Buring moved the successful salon to Sisters.

"Heather and I both live out here and all our kids go to school here, so we decided to move back," said Stout, a natural nail tech.

They are joined by fellow Sisters resident Cary Kiefer, a hair stylist and nail tech.

Amonté Salon & Spa is located at 450 E. Cascade Ave., in a homey-feeling space near the stallion statue.

"As soon as I saw it, I had to have it," Stout said. "This kind of fits us. I wanted the country feel, the home salon."

Amonté feels cozy and homelike, but it's a sophisticated professional salon operated by women with a combined total of 38 years in the beauty industry. Kiefer notes that Amonté has the only three-station pedicure suite in town, and their product lines are top-shelf.

They carry Keune and Kevin Murphy hair care products. Buring, who specializes in color, extols the virtues of Keune.

"It's from Holland, and what is special about it is it has silk protein in it," she said. "It replaces what is lost" in the coloring process.

Amonté also is the exclusive outlet for the Bare Minerals makeup line.

"It's one of the top mineral makeups out right now and we're the only ones in the area that are allowed to carry it," Stout said.

Stout noted that Amonté works cooperatively with the nearby Face Oasis for clients who want a facial.

In addition to the salon and spa, Amonté is also a boutique, carrying the Adiktd and Cowgirl Up clothing lines.

Stout notes that the salon also caters to men, especially for haircuts and pedicures, which are important for maintaining foot health.

Amonté has retained most of its clientele from Redmond while establishing new relationships in Sisters.

"They love to come to Sisters," says Stout of their Redmond clients. "They go to lunch ... they bring their husbands, they go shopping."
