Artwork stolen in Sisters

Some time last week, two small pieces were taken from the entry gallery show at Sisters Art Works.

The pieces were 8-by-10-inch paintings by featured artist Randy Redfield. According to gallery owner Kathy Deggendorfer, the images were Redfield's signature "Colorfield" work - float mounted in black wooden frames. The pieces were designed to be shown together with similar color palette and brushwork. Each piece is valued at $600.

This is the first time a theft has occurred at Sisters Art Works.

"I am sick about this betrayal of our community trust," said Deggendorfer. "I am disheartened with the prospect of discontinuing the beautiful shows we have enjoyed because the work is not safe."

She noted that a surveillance system is being installed at the gallery.

Deggendorfer is appealing for the return of the art pieces.

"If anyone knows anything about those missing pieces and can facilitate their return there will be no questions asked," she said.
