Boys hoops post big win over Cowboys

The Outlaws posted a big 54-26 win over Crook County at home on Saturday, December 7.

Sisters got out to a great start in the first quarter with a 10-0 run on the Cowboys. At the end of the quarter the Outlaws held a 14-2 lead. Foul trouble put two starters on the bench, and the Outlaws struggled to score in the second quarter. Sisters played strong defense and at the half were on top 19-11.

The Outlaws poured it on in the third quarter and outscored the Cowboys 17-5. Coach Rand Runco was able to sub in a lot of players in the final quarter. Nine different players scored, and the Outlaws recorded an easy win.

"Nate Kaping was a key to the separation in the third quarter," said Runco. "He made some big plays on the baseline versus their zone.

"We were able to pull the Cowboys out of the zone and our man-to-man offense really hurt them," added Runco. "It was a good first game for the Outlaws."

Fifteen players scored points for the Outlaws, which set a new school record. Connor Schaab led the team with 14 points and was 6/7 from the field. Justin Harrer and Ben Larson each scored six.

Harrer led the team with five rebounds, and Larson had five assists.

The Outlaws were to travel to Madras on Tuesday, December 10.
