Sisters woman hurt in Highway 20 crash

Virginia Lindsey, 75, of Sisters, suffered non-life threatening injuries in a crash on Highway 20 east of Sisters.

According to Deschutes County Sheriff's Office reports, at approximately 3:48pm, deputies were dispatched to a motor vehicle crash at milepost 5.5 on Highway 20 East involving two vehicles.

Assistance at the crash scene was provided by employees of the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT), who directed traffic, and members of the Bend Fire Department.

The sheriff's office reports that two vehicles had been traveling eastbound, at an unknown rate of speed, when Lindsey, driving a 2001 Jeep Cherokee attempted to perform a u-turn and collided with a 200 Chevy Suburban. Both vehicles came to rest blocking the highway's westbound lane.

Due to the damage sustained from the crash extrication was required to free Lindsey from her vehicle. She was treated for non-life threatening injuries by medics of the Bend Fire Department and transported to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend.

The highway at the crash scene was closed to a single lane until approximately 5:30 p.m.
