Letters to the Editor 12/25/2013

To the Editor:

Our family moved to Oregon 2-1/2 years ago from California for our children to have a better education, better health and to explore all that Oregon has to offer. While looking at cities to live in we came across the beautiful little town of Sisters that we now call home. We chose Sisters because it was just where we imagined for our kids to grow up, explore and give back to the community.

We found our home on Bluegrass Loop in the Crossroads neighborhood within an hour of looking and we knew this was it because of the privacy, safety, peace and quiet, and for our kids to run right out the back door into the forest to explore and play. Every day I love our home, neighbors and our backyard that looks out at the beautiful forest more and more and am so thankful that we were able to move here.

I, like other parents, am always thinking of my kids and safety so with the purposed 10-foot trail that is right behind the property line of the place we call home we will lose most of what we value most which is privacy, peace and quiet, safety from random strangers right behind our backyard where my kids play most every day. Not to mention our dogs that love us so much and lets us know when a stranger is around by barking.

I fully support a new location on Highway 242 that many residents have purposed a new trail. I am only asking that a path behind any of our yards not invade our family's privacy and the privacy of all our neighbors in Crossroads.

I volunteer my time every week to help our community, by volunteering for Sisters Habitat for Humanity, and right now I am asking for help from the Sisters community that our family loves to just help us keep our privacy and peace and quiet.

To the Editor:

Ky Karnecki's snarky comment about the Nugget editor in his letter in the December 18 issue erases whatever sympathy I might have been inclined to have for him.

The Nugget is the finest paper of its kind I've ever had the pleasure of reading and I look forward to getting it every week. Somehow I think Jim Cornelius may have something to do with that...
