Hubert William Poutre (aka Bill) went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 12, 2014 at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend.
Bill was born in Swansea, Massachusetts on January 25, 1927, to William Poutre and Amanda Delia Contois Poutre. He served in the Navy during World War II as a machinist stationed in the Swan Island shipyards near Portland.
He was an avid outdoorsman and loved all forms of hunting and fishing. While living in his home town of Warren, Rhode Island, he raised and trained English setters for field trials, and had a lifelong love of dogs.
During the mid 1960s he moved his family out to Oregon where he enjoyed farming and restoring horse-drawn equipment.
He is survived by step-children Judy Pion of Riverside, Rhode Island; Melanie Lemieux of Florida; his son William Robert Poutre of Gresham, Oregon; daughter Michelle Poutre Ehr; and grand-children Blake Ehr, Scout Ehr, MacKenzie Ehr, Matthew Pion, Amanda Pion, Kaitlyn Lemieux and Allison Lemieux.
A memorial service will be held at Sisters Community Church on January 26, 2014 at 2 p.m.
