News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon

Edward "Ed" D. (Gager) Hardin June 25, 1942 - December 15, 2013

Heaven called Ed home on Sunday, December 15, 2013. Born to parents Edward and Ann Hrdlicka in Chicago, he was raised and schooled in typical Catholic tradition.

After college, with a Master's degree in business finance, he traveled the world over for IBM to make sure that the companies financial network ran on all cylinders. Between college and his professional life, he had a stint in Vietnam, proudly serving his country.

Years later he came to Sisters to visit his brother Rick Hrdlicka, and he stayed on for the next 28 years. Soon after, he joined the family of Brigitte Gager and sons Christian and Walter; that was 27 years ago.

Along the way he coached Little League for several seasons. He was involved in the boys' sports from Little League through college. Ed dedicated his life to education. He was a walking encyclopedia.

Ed is survived by his sweetie Brigitte; brother Rick and his wife Sharon and their son Jason; stepsons in Hillsboro: Walter and his family, and Christian and his family (with the newest addition, grandson Camden Gager); and finally, his little Doxie Greta.

Sadly, Ed passed away without seeing his beloved Chicago Cubs win the BIG ONE! He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Services will be held at a later date.
