Be alert for traffic changes in Sisters

Drivers should be alert to traffic changes in downtown Sisters this week, as the Cascade Avenue renovation project gets underway.

The temporary signal will be turned on this week, and signage to direct traffic will be in place.

"It is easy to get into driving habits or hypnotic driving, so I ask that you please watch for traffic changes as the temporary signs will be installed and going into effect," said Ann Fisher, ODOT's community liaison for the project.

Knife River is working nights 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting Monday February 17, finishing the installations of stormwater facilities.

The City's public works crew and Curt's Electric will be starting to disconnect and take down city street lights on the morning of March 3. They will start at Larch Street and work toward Elm Street. Some disconnects will need to occur inside the buildings, Fisher noted.

A construction timeline and an updated walking map of downtown Sisters are available for online viewing:

"I am looking for feedback on the walking map as I am doing my best to make sure all businesses along Main, Cascade, and Hood (avenues) are represented," Fisher said. "So please take a look and let me know if you see any corrections that may need to be made."

Fisher can be reached at 541-678-1796.
