Marcus to be crowned Miss Rodeo Oregon

Sara Marcus will be crowned 2014 Miss Rodeo Oregon on Saturday, March 1. The coronation will be held at the Bend Elks Lodge.

Marcus, a resident of Sisters and 2010 Sisters High School graduate, will be celebrating attaining the Miss Rodeo Oregon crown accompanied by her parents, Bob and Jeri Buckmann and father Ron Marcus.

"It is an honor to demonstrate my patriotism for my country, respect for our Western heritage, family values, my commitment to service and my love of rodeo," Sara said.

Marcus won the title of 2014 Miss Rodeo Oregon last August during the Canby Rodeo at the Clackamas County Fair and Rodeo. She won the categories of appearance, personality, speech, and the coveted horsemanship award. She has been riding horses since she was two years old. She previously participated in the Oregon High School Equestrian Team and the Tri County High School Rodeo along with the Central Oregon Pee Wee Rodeo Association, and was selected as their 2007 Princess. She also held the titles of 2011 Spray Rodeo Queen, 2012 Sisters Rodeo Queen and the 2013 Miss Northwest Professional Rodeo Association Queen.

"I am progressing to an associate degree in criminal justice, and next want to gain a bachelor's degree in psychology. My career goal is criminal profiling for the Federal Bureau of Investigation," Marcus said.

Matt Gansle, "Phat Matt" of KSJJ Radio in Bend, will host the March 1 event. Silent and oral auctions will provide additional fundraising and entertainment, and the evening closes with dancing. This is the major fundraiser to help Sara finance her year and travel as Miss Rodeo Oregon. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $22 and must be purchased by February 22. Mail check to Miss Rodeo Oregon, P.O. Box 1417, Sisters, OR, 97759 or call 541-728-4083. The public is encouraged to attend to support Sara Marcus, 2014 Miss Rodeo Oregon.
