Lady Outlaws name four to all-league teams

The Sisters High School girls basketball team finished league with a 3-7 record, and overall were 7-14. Three players were named to all-league teams.

Senior Jacobie Petterson was the only first-team all-league pick. Jacobie scored 96 points for the Outlaws on the season and was 76 percent from the free-throw line (26/34). She was also voted MVP by her teammates.

"Jacobie being voted all-league and MVP by her teammates shows just how hard she worked in both games and in practice," said Coach Julianne Horner. "Jacobie gained confidence and poise this season that showed in her game. Her leadership was in her actions and she worked hard in every drill, every game, and always left her heart on the court."

Savannah Spear was a second-team all-league selection. Savannah scored 80 points over the course of the season and shot 79 percent from the free-throw line (19/24).

"Savannah being voted second team all-league is a huge compliment, as most other coaches only look at the scoring threats and Savannah being the point guard makes that a tough roll," stated Horner. "Savannah is the leader in assists, but was also a threat at the basket. Her signature drive and finish at the hoop was unstoppable. Her ability to handle pressure and be a great defender made her a two-year starter. Savannah has a true competitor mentality and I could always count on her to finish big shots, keep her team composed and lead with fierce authority. You cannot ask for a better point guard."

Cierra Mann and Claire Henson both earned honorable mention. Mann scored 51 points for the Outlaws and shot 81 percent from the line (13/16). Henson scored 60 points and was 48 percent from the line (18/37) and was voted "most inspirational" by her teammates.

Horner noted both players for their contributions to the Outlaws squad.

"Cierra (Mann) is the player every coach wants on their team; the one who will hit the floor for loose balls, the one who will fight for every ball no matter who it is with, and the one who keeps a great attitude at all times," said Horner. "Cierra was best at rebounding and reading the floor. She will be a great floor leader next season, and I look forward to making her even more of an offensive threat.

"Claire (Henson) was the unsung hero for our team this year," stated Horner. "She became a scoring threat, but where she was the best was under the basket defense. All year she battled underneath and was incredibly smart. She was a student of the game and never let anyone beat her underneath the rim."

Horner also noted Boston Moore and Bethany Bachmeier for their contributions and the recognition they received from their teammates; Moore was voted Best Defender and Bachmeier was unanimously chosen by her team as "most improved."

Moore was a great defensive player for the Lady Outlaws. Moore always guarded the opponent's best shooters and kept them under control.

Of Bachmeier, Horner said, "Bethany shows a great love for the game and works extremely hard in every drill, practice, and minutes she gets in the game. Her offensive ability greatly improved. She showed this in the game against Cottage Grove, where she hit two big shots in the paint and then defensively shut down their best player. Her strength and sheer desire to win is unmatched."
