City to restart formula foods discussion

The City of Sisters withdrew a proposed formula food amendment from the planning commission agenda Thursday.

In a February 5 town hall meeting covering a proposed formula food amendment change in the highway commercial area, the City heard from 30 or so local folks who said they would prefer to have a uniform city code that would cover both the highway commercial zoned areas and downtown. The vast majority preferred tighter restrictions.

Based on that input the City staff is redoing their proposed code amendment to include recommendations for both highway commercial and downtown zones. Those speaking at the earlier town hall meeting were in agreement that they would like to see the current "identical format" restaurant restrictions in place for both areas.

New public hearings covering formula food establishment in both the zones will be scheduled.
