News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
One of Sisters' most well-loved musicians is returning to town for a concert at The Barn.
Keith Greeninger and Dayan Kai will bring the music of their new acoustic duo CD "Make It Rain" to The Barn on Saturday, June 7. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. folks are invited to bring their own picnic to the show.
Greeninger has been a perennial favorite at the Sisters Folk Festival, bringing soulful singing and dynamic performances, along with heartfelt, salt-of-the-earth songwriting. He will return to the festival this year, performing with members of Bonnie Raitt's band and members of Little Feat.
Greeninger's longtime musical partner Dayan Kai has moved to Maui, where he's found success as a musical director in musical theater. He's back on the mainland for a brief tour with Greeninger.
The concert at The Barn is "the reunion of two good friends and a preview of some of the material from our upcoming CD that's coming out later this summer."
The duo's most recent project was recorded with renowned Grammy-nominated engineer and producer Cookie Marenco. The CD is a live studio recording that uses the highest-grade equipment available to capture the natural dynamics, spontaneity and passion of their performances. Though Greeninger and Kai both contribute original material to the new CD, they also perform powerful renditions of songs by some of their favorite writers.
The use of analog gear, unique microphone placement and minimal studio effects and compression give this recording the feeling of being in the room with the artist.
Greeninger describes his recording studio in a barn on 40 acres in the Santa Cruz Mountains as the fulfillment of a longtime dream.
The Barn is located at 68467 S. Elm St. in Sisters.
