Redfields bring art full circle

Susanne Kibak Redfield and Randy Redfield will celebrate the opening of their new studio/showroom on Main Avenue on Friday, May 30.

The two artists have come full circle from the early days of 1981 when Susanne, who had developed a unique and distinctive relief method of glazing, opened Kibak Tile in Sisters. Two years later she met and began working with Randy Redfield, an Oregon painter who added his colors to the tiles and soon to a new line of pottery.

Their outstanding design and craftsmanship soon brought them to the attention of interior design firm Ann Sacks in Portland, and Nordstrom, who sold thousands of Randy's hand-painted bowls and vases. Kibak tiles have decorated major resort venues, such as Disney, Marriott, and Hard Rock Café, as well as hundreds of private residences.

For years their kilns and design studios occupied a 5,000-square-foot space in the Redmond Industrial Park, but last year they sold Kibak Tile to a large tile company in California and have moved the studio/showroom to a new, much smaller space on Main Avenue, next to Sisters Feed & Supply.

Studio Redfield, as their new space is called, offers a unique opportunity for Sisters residents and visitors to see and purchase beautiful, hand-crafted tiles as well as view paintings by Randy Redfield. His paintings are in major collections, and were recently shown in the Governor's office in Salem.

The opening event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 30, at 102 E. Main Ave. Ste. A.
