News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon

Rodeo offers free shuttle service

Next Wednesday, the 74th Annual Sisters Rodeo will be kicking off the summer season with the Xtreme Bulls Competition starting at 6:30 p.m. Showcasing some of the best Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association competitors, Sisters Rodeo attracts approximately 26,000 fans here to Central Oregon, with rodeo attendance breaking records last year.

This year, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, free shuttles will be running continuously from Sisters Elementary School to the southwest side of the rodeo grounds.

"We thought offering free shuttle service would be nice for fans who didn't want to fight traffic on Highway 20," said Keith Sweeney, Sisters Rodeo Association board member. "The service is free, although tips for the drivers are welcome. All you have to do is park your car at Sisters Elementary School and enjoy the ride to the rodeo."

Starting at 6 p.m. for Friday's Les Schwab Family Night through the rodeo's final Sunday-afternoon performance, shuttle bus service will operate one hour before each performance and run until one hour after each performance.

The 74th Annual Sisters Rodeo starts June 11 with Xtreme Bulls and runs June 13 through 15, at the Sisters Rodeo Grounds southeast of Sisters on Highway 20. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, this year's specialty act will feature Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame founder, Bobby Kerr & His Mustangs. For the complete schedule of events, visit www.sistersrodeo.com.
