Musician donates sales to friend

Lucas Denzer recently released his first CD of original music. Now he's turning his music toward helping a friend in need.

Denzer graduated from Sisters High School (SHS) in 2005 and is a close friend of Jayson Berray, whose wife, Lauren Shultz Berray, died after a tragic skateboarding accident at Black Butte Ranch over Memorial Day weekend.

"All the CD sales for this month of June will be donated to their medical expenses," Denzer said.

Denzer is a composer, working mainly on the piano.

"What I'm really into is putting music to media," he says.

He creates music for visual media for clients, as well as teaching music and managing a piano store in Pismo Beach, California.

"It would be great to work 40 hours a week just composing," he says. "That's really hard to get into. It's all about connections."

The CD, "IntrAxiom," features 16 tracks of mostly instrumental music, with a couple of tracks featuring vocals from another SHS grad, Amanda Sarles.

"The music I write is highly informed by film scores," Denzer says. He is fascinated by the power of music to affect the way a viewer experiences visual media, "bringing something you're experiencing to a deeper level."

IntrAxiom is available through all major online resources and at Paulina Springs Books, Bald Eagle Music and Sisters Coffee Co. in Sisters.
