Dancers to take the stage in recital

Sisters Dance Academy's sixth annual spring dance recital will be held on Saturday, June 21 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sisters High School auditorium. The theme for this year's show is "Dancing Thru the Pages," and will highlight more than 100 dancers ages 3 through 18 as they depict many beloved stories, books and fairy tales through dance.

The show's opening number, "Welcome to Wonderland," danced by the Broadway dance class, will lead the audience down the rabbit hole to the wonder of their own imagination. Some of the other feature dance numbers will be the teen lyrical class performing their representation of "Romeo and Juliet," the 5- to 7-year-old hip hop class with their depiction of "Where the Wild Things Are," and the teen hip hop class's frightening (yet family-friendly) dance entitled, "Monsters Under the Bed."

The dancers will be adorned in costumes, many of which were hand-made by seamstress and dance parent, Angelique Haney. She personally made over 60 costumes and has spent endless hours in helping to bring the vision of artistic director Lonnie Liddell alive through the costuming.

The dancers have been preparing for this year's spring recital since January and have put in many hours to bring these special stories to life.

"We are so excited to present this beautiful performance to the community, and we know that all who attend will leave feeling that they were thoroughly entertained," said Liddell.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for youth under 15, ages 2 and under are free. For more information on this performance or about the Sisters Dance Academy visit www.sistersdanceacademy.com.
