Big book sale supports library programs

Sisters may be hot with Quilt Show fever this week, but locals and visitors also turn out for the Friends of the Sisters Library (FOSL) annual book sale on Saturday, July 12. For over 15 years, on Quilt Show Saturday, the front lawn of the library has been transformed into bargain central for book lovers.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. locals and visitors are invited to stop by and browse the huge selection of fiction and nonfiction books, most of which will be selling for 25 cents to $1. There will be a few special selections priced up to $3.

Co-manager of the FOSL Book Corner Sandy Duncan reported, "We have a vast variety of books, with something for everybody."

Each year, the book sale is the single biggest fundraiser for FOSL, with last year seeing over $1,500 come in. All funds support library programs.

Duncan also wanted to remind locals that the Book Corner, where patrons can donate and purchase used books and CDs, is now open every Tuesday and Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m. They are located in the northwest corner of the Sisters Library building. Duncan is always looking for new volunteers to work in the Book Corner, a commitment that requires as little as one two-hour shift a month.
