Outlaws announce new football coach

Sisters High School Athletic Director Tim Roth last week announced the hiring of a new head football coach heading into the 2014-15 football season.

"After an extensive search this spring we have hired Gary Thorson to lead our football program," Roth announced.

Thorson graduated from Toledo High School in Toledo, Washington, in 1986. He attended Linfield College and played running back for head coach Ad Rutschman from 1986-1989. He was part of the 1986 national championship team his freshman season and was named all-conference his senior year.

He has 24 years of experience coaching football, including six seasons as an assistant at Linfield, and has served as a head coach at three high schools (Grant HS, Dallas HS, and Dayton HS), taking both Grant and Dallas into the quarterfinals, and Dayton into the finals in 2011.
