New light posts up on Cascade Ave.

A key feature of the new Cascade Avenue streetscape is in place. Light posts 18.5-feet tall now line the avenue.

The posts are made of laminated coastal Douglas fir from TimberWood Products with light fixtures by Sternberg Lighting.

Public Works Director Paul Bertagna noted that the poles are designed to withstand the weather conditions of Central Oregon.

"You've got to treat them every now and then," he said. "The finish, that was what we were most concerned about. The finish that we've got, they've had good success several years out in our environment."

The lights will come on later this week after the terminal connections are established. The poles can host two banners, two flags, and hanging flower baskets.
