Boys soccer shuts out Sweet Home

The boys soccer team recorded a 3-0 shutout at Sweet Home on Friday, September 19, in the first league game of the season.

It was a relatively quiet first half, and at halftime the score was even at 0-0.

Minam Cravens scored Sisters' first goal at the 68-minute mark off a Ben Larson assist from the right side. Cravens finished in the middle from 12 yards out.

Eleven minutes later, Malachy Sundstrom beat five defenders, got to the middle from the right side, and from six feet out kicked it in with his left foot for the finish.

With six minutes left on the clock, Billy Biggers threw the ball in and Sean Willitts scored from 25 yards out for his first varsity goal.

"Sean scored while trying to cross, and cut it thin for a side-netter," said Coach Rob Jensen.

Of the game, Jensen said, "It took a while to build up in the first half, but we controlled 90 percent of possession. In the second half, we were much more direct, and created more opportunities."

Jensen added, "Anson Ricker played some crucial varsity minutes, and is doing an awesome job distributing the ball and keeping a fun, positive-attitude on the field, and quoting Billy Biggers, all the while being steezy (looking good)."

The Outlaws were to play at home against Elmira on Tuesday, September 23. Sisters will play at home against Junction City on Thursday, September 25.
