News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
A unique leadership seminar is set to occur on Saturday, September 27, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the R & B Ranch, just out of Sisters. The event is free and open to the public, and is sponsored by Mohr Solutions, a Sisters-based company.
Dr. Lew Sterrett of Leaders by H.E.A.R.T (Human/Equine Analogies in Relational Training) is presenting the one-day course designed to get leaders on a pathway to healthy and productive relationships. The aim, according to the Leaders by H.E.A.R.T. website, is "restoring ethics, integrity and sound business leadership by building leaders of character."
This aim is accomplished using a horse that has never been saddled or ridden. As he works through the process of introducing the saddle to the horse, Dr. Sterrett relates each step to establishing foundations for human relationships. The morning session involves the horse, while the afternoon session is interactive and involves application of the principles revealed in the morning.
Jessica Mohr, of Mohr Solutions, is well acquainted with Dr. Sterrett, having traveled with him and his wife for three years. She and her husband, Doug, are excited about bringing Dr. Sterrett to Sisters. They have hired him to work with their employees, which led to the sponsorship of Saturday's event. They will be bringing him to Sisters every six months for the next two years, so continuing community sessions are possible for those interested.
The Mohrs are emphatic that one does not need to be a horse person or even interested in horses to participate and learn. An open mind and willingness to apply sound leadership methodology is all that is required.
R & B Ranch is located east of Sisters on Jordan Road, just off Highway 20. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. For more information, call Jessica at 541-602-8626. Learn more about the program at www.leadersbyheart.org.
