Lois was born in Libertyville, Illinois. Her family moved from Libertyville to Piedmont, California when she was a young girl. She attended college at U.C. Berkeley, where she met her husband Richard E. Lloyd.
When Rick prepared to move to Chicago, IL to attend naval officer school during the outbreak of World War II, he asked Lois to join him there, so that they could be married. They were married December 22, 1943. When Rick shipped out, Lois returned to Marin County, California to await his return.
In 1973 they moved to Black Butte Ranch, where they were among the first permanent residents, and continued to reside in the Sisters area for the past 41 years.
Lois loved to travel, was an avid reader, and loved attending Westside Church in Sisters. In 1981, she opened "The Dove" Christian bookstore in Sisters. She ran the store for four years before selling it in 1984.
Lois is survived by her husband, Rick; her four daughters, Vickie Layne of Sisters, Sarah Lloyd of Concord, NC, Sandy Tartaglia of Redmond, Robin Rodgers of Sisters; and her son, Rick Lloyd Jr. of Washoe Valley, Nevada; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Amanda Tartaglia.
Lois was looking forward to being with Jesus in heaven, and passed away peacefully at the age of 92 at St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, early morning on Friday, September 19.
