News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Max Hedren has followed his passion for classic cars into a start-up career in Sisters. He has opened his custom/classic car restoration and upholstery shop, Born to Drive, in the Sisters Industrial Park, right next to Russell's Auto Body.
Hedren and his crew can take on any classic restoration work up to cars from the mid-'80s - though he says that cars from the 1950s and '60s are his favorites.
"I love '50s and '60s cruisers - that's what I really like," he said.
It's a life-long passion.
"My dad had an old car, growing up, and I loved that thing," he said. "When I got out of high school I knew this was what I wanted to do."
He went to the Hot Rod Institute in South Dakota for certification, and returned to Sisters to open his business. Sisters Country has plenty of car enthusiasts to sustain such a business. Many hobbyists live here full- or part-time. Hedren says his typical customer owns a classic car but doesn't have the time or capacity to do a lot of restoration work himself. Or the owner just wants the car and isn't interested in doing the work at all.
Hedren is ready to help. He and his crew can handle any chassis fabrication, metalwork or paintwork that needs to be done. Although he does upholstery repair, he prefers full one-off jobs.
If you have a classic you're wanting to get running and looking good, stop by and schedule an appointment with Hedren, and he'll advise on what is required to make your classic shine.
