Outlaws soccer tallies third straight shutout

The Sisters High School boys soccer team cruised to a 9-0 shutout at Elmira on Tuesday, October 6, which marked their third consecutive shutout of the season.

The Outlaws kept up their intensity the entire game and moved the ball quickly up and down the field.

Sisters jumped out in the first minute of play with an easy goal to the right side from Andreas Pederson thanks to a Connor Schaab assist. Nine minutes later, Jadon Bachtold passed a 45 over to Malachy Sundstrom who drove a hard shot past the keeper for the goal.

Sisters added four more goals within a 15-minute period and at the half held a 6-0 advantage over the Falcons. Bachtold, Pederson, and Minam Cravens all drove in shots from 15 to 17 yards out. Sisters' final goal in the first half came when Ethan Stengel crossed the ball over to Schaab and the shot deflected off a defender for the score.

Sundstrom, Stengel, and Colton Mannhalter all scored goals in the second half to secure the win.

The Outlaws are loaded with offensive power, and the scoring was spread out amongst seven different players. Pederson and Bachtold each recorded two assists and Schaab, Cravens, Stengel, and Ben Larson added one each.

Sisters' defense didn't allow a shot for the third straight game, and the offense had 30-plus shots on goal.

Justin Harrer commented on the win and the team's perfect league record.

"We showed great chemistry as a team," said Harrer. "We got to experiment with new offensive formations because of our ball control throughout the game. It feels good to be 6-0 in league right now, but it's time to accelerate through the rest of league and improve each day."

Coach Rob Jensen stated, "Team effort was key and they really did a good job of making things look simple. Colton (Mannhalter) started to play better after some frustrating injuries early in the season, and Jadon (Bachtold) has been doing a great job distributing and making runs. Malachy (Sundstrom), Minam (Cravens), and Andreas (Pederson) have proven to be a real scoring threat up top."

The Outlaws were to play at Elmira on Tuesday, October 14. Sisters will travel to Junction City on Thursday, October 16. Sisters is currently 6-0 in league.
