Leeann Smith Stahn of Sisters, beloved wife, mother, sister and daughter passed away October 21 at home with her family.
Leeann is the wife of Charles William Stahn of Sisters and daughter of Emmitt Harold Smith and Sara Clio Rundell.
She was born in Austin, Travis County, Texas on September 7, 1960.
Leeann lived in Texas until the age of 15 when she moved to Laie, Hawaii, and got the nickname "Tex" while attending Kahuku High School.
In Hawaii she made many good friends and enjoyed sports, especially basketball, and excelled in school, graduating with honors in 1979.
She attended Ricks College in Idaho, where she met Ann and Lynn Smith, who became like parents to her, and they continue to be wonderful grandparents to her children.
She played basketball in college and graduated in early childhood education and family studies.
Soon after, she married Chuck Stahn in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on May 28, 1981.
They raised a family of four sons as they moved across Idaho to Utah and then settled in Sisters in 1998.
Leeann was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in all the auxiliaries.
She was very involved in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and always ready to help others and offer assistance in any way, being generous to a fault.
After her boys were older, Leeann returned to school at COCC and earned a degree in health information.
She earned a bachelor's degree from St. Joseph's College in adult education and completed a master's degree in biomedical informatics at OHSU in 2013.
She taught at COCC and was an excellent teacher.
She was well liked by students and colleagues, and made many lasting friendships.
Leeann is survived by her husband Chuck; sons William Scott Stahn (Elise), Christopher Charles Stahn, Andrew Monte Stahn and Jeremiah Daniel Stahn; granddaughter Jessica Emily Stahn (mother Alexandria Stahn); sisters Sylvia Richardson (Cecil), Carol Sue "Susie" Smith (Steve), Cissy Smith; and brothers James Arthur Smith (Linda), Steven Harold Smith (Taffy), and Michael Lee Smith.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother. There will be a celebration of her life on November 15 at the LDS chapel (452 Trinity Way) in Sisters at 11 a.m.
