To the Editor:

Is this what it's come to in Sisters: small town politics at its worst?

November 4, voters overwhelmingly repudiated the Brad Boyd, Wendy Holzman, Andrew Gorayeb regime of the last two years.

I'm now told that councilors Holzman and Womack will vote for Councilor Frye as mayor on January 8. These councilors are openly defying the expressed will of the voters to further their own self-interests.

To top that, Councilor Frye has only a few months of council experience and has never been elected!

In my 14 years on the city council, four as mayor, the top vote-getter, or one of the top two, was elected mayor by the council. Why has that reasonable and long-held concept been tossed out? Councilor-elect Connolly and Councilor Asson were the top vote-getters. Councilor Asson, with his four-year council experience, two years as Council President and a substantial business/financial background, is the obvious choice for mayor.

Please remind councilors Frye, Holzman, and Womack that they have a duty to respect the will of the voters. They should vote for David Asson.

To the Editor:

What is the purpose of the Creekside Campground? This question needs to be answered before we can plan for the future of this unique property in the city limits. What do we want there? RV park? Tent campground? Athletic fields? Internet cafe? Public showers? Visitor center?

We need to decide what we want that property to be before we start building things there.

To the Editor:

Last Wednesday evening (November 19), I placed a shoebox with a pair of patent leather, black dress shoes on the roof of my vehicle prior to a drive into Sisters. Somewhere south of mile-marker three on Holmes Road, the laws of physics (and Murphy) proved accurate as the box lost contact with my roof while being acted upon by some force stronger than friction.

I didn't realize this until returning home when I saw a completely intact shoebox in the middle of the road (complete with box top and tissue paper). Alas, the shoes were nowhere to be found. They aren't big enough to fit Sasquatch and they hadn't flown away only to get caught hanging from the nearby power lines. Perhaps they are on some other adventure, but if anyone happened to see or pick up the shoes, my dogs would love to have them back. Please contact The Nugget editor with any information and he can relay my contact information so I may be reunited with my dress shoes.

Thank you from an absent-minded driver,

Damon Frutos
