Lady Outlaw swimmers take first at dual meet

The Outlaws matched up against Redmond and Ridgeview on Tuesday, February 3, and the Lady Outlaws came out on top. Sisters' girls defeated Ridgeview 78-39 and beat Redmond 87-39.

Highlights included first-place finishes by Mary Stewart and Emily Christen. Stewart finished first in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 29.14 and also took top honors in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:14.14. Christen finished first in the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:18.08.

Several other Lady Outlaws finished in the top five. Madelyn Zadow took second in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 1:13.16. Christen finished at 30.41 in the 50-meter freestyle for a second-place finish. Brooke Knirk took fifth in the same event with a time of 31.89.

In the 100-meter backstroke, Zadow finished third at 1:21.08, and Hawley Harrer took fifth at 1:33.50.

Christen, Harrer, Zadow, and Stewart took first place in the 200-meter freestyle relay with a finish time of 2:02.95. In the 400-meter freestyle relay (Christen, Harrer, Zadow and Stewart) took first place with a time of 4:49.22.

On the boys' side, Jonathan Luz and Shawn Horton took first and second respectively in the 100-meter butterfly. Luz finished with a time of 1:15.64, and Horton was close behind with a time of 1:15.96.

The 400-meter freestyle relay team of Horton, Cyrus Alexander, Will Werts and Luz took second with a time of 4:41.12.

Swimmers used their last league meet of the season to prepare for the district championships, which will be held in Albany on Friday and Saturday, February 13-14.
