News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Jean Ann Engstrom passed away on Sunday, February 15, of natural causes, surrounded by her family who loved her dearly. She was 86 years old.
Jean was the only child of Richard and Mildred Martin, and was born in Orange, NJ. She graduated from Newark State Teachers College and taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. Jean married Frank Engstrom on June 7, 1947, and had four children: Jill, Richard, Roger and Amy.
Jean and Frank traveled often and moved to Oregon around 1981. They were always faithful supporters of their Episcopal church, particularly the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in Sisters, which they helped build. Jean's strong faith has been an inspiration, and is a lasting legacy to her children and grandchildren. She is survived by three children, six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Donations in memory of Jean can be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or The Bethlehem Inn in Bend.
