News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The Sisters School District has hired an Oregon executive search firm to assist in its effort to hire a new superintendent. Jim Golden has taken the superintendent position in the Greater Albany School District.
The school board seeks to have a new superintendent in the saddle starting July 1.
The district is contracting with Window To Leadership (http://window2leadership.com), a government leadership training and executive search firm out of West Linn, for $7,500 plus expenses.
"They've done a lot of this - including stealing Jim from us for Albany," said school board chair Don Hedrick with a chuckle. "They've got contracts all over. They will conduct all the community meetings. They believe in a heavy involvement - as do we - of community members..."
Hedrick said, "We hired a superintendent search firm because (hiring) a superintendent is one of the most important things we do, and we want to do it right."
Community members will get a chance for initial participation in the process next week.
The public is encouraged to attend the next Sisters School Board meeting on Wednesday, April 8, at 6 p.m. at the Sisters School District office. Board members would like the community's input regarding the qualities and priorities for the new superintendent.
A superintendent search committee will be formed at a later date, and community members will be invited to apply.
