News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The boys tennis team won by the slimmest of margins against Blanchet at Black Butte Ranch on Wednesday, April 15. Sisters tied 4-4 in matches played, but won 10-8 in sets.
Colin Reinert pulled out the only single win at the No. 1 spot. Reinert dominated play, and his big serves were key in his 6-2, 6-4 victory over Kimmitoshi Nakano.
Sisters won three of the four doubles matches played. Ben Johnson and Gabe Willitts (No. 2 doubles) beat Spencer Schibig and Dakota Juring 6-2, 6-3.
"These guys continue to improve with every match," said Coach Bim Gander. "They're both tall, 6 feet 2 inches and 6 feet 3 inches, and it's difficult for opponents to pass or lob against when they're entrenched at the net, because they're so tall."
Pierce Wehrle and Josh Kizziar (No. 3 doubles) earned an impressive 6-3, 6-2 win over Nathan Mcintyre and Sean Thompson.
"Pierce and Josh are good, steady players," stated Gander. "They're tenacious and have a willingness to hit one more ball into the court."
At the No. 4 spot, Andrew Stengel and Gus Gyorgyfalvy teamed up for the first time, and earned a convincing 6-3, 6-1 win over Jing Jing Li and William Yuen.
Gander said, "This was a good match to build on as we move into matches against district opponents."
Sisters' overall record is 2-2-1. The Outlaws were to play at home against Cascade on Tuesday, April 21.
