News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Sisters' new carwash is up and running at Outlaw Station.
The new, automated $450,000 facility is located at the west end of the plaza, around the corner from Ray's Food Place and next to the Pacific Pride cardlock gas station.
That location was deliberate, according to Outlaw Station developer Todd Taylor.
"It was to complement everything that we've done out here," Taylor said.
After much research, Taylor decided to go with a brush system instead of a "touchless" chemical washing station, which uses a great deal more water. The water used in the current system is recycled, and the soap is biodegradable.
"It's a tedious process and it's expensive, but it really does fit in with our thinking in terms of the environment," Taylor told The Nugget.
Trucks and vans can fit through the car wash. Basically, if you can fit into a standard garage, you can fit through the car wash.
The system can accommodate about six cars per hour. It takes nine minutes to run through the "full package." A basic wash takes about five minutes.
There is a powerful dryer system to send cars out ready for the road, and there is a vacuum station on one side of the facility. Taylor says he plans to hire a local person to manage the facility and to operate an on-site detailing room.
