News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Sisters' Little League Minors softball team gave an outstanding effort in their game Saturday afternoon in Redmond.
The mostly rookie team of 14 girls, aged 8 to 10, have been putting in a great deal of practice with coaches Rob Ralph and Desmond Boots. Some of the players have also been attending a weekly skills clinic with Sisters High School Softball Coach Ciera Jones, where members of the high school softball team mentor the youngsters.
Saturday's game proved that the hard work is starting to pay off for the team.
Coach Ralph said, "These girls know that they are the future of Sisters girls softball all the way up through high school and we get a kick out of hearing them talk about it, on to the Majors next year.
"We have some great little athletes who pull off some amazing stuff. Despite 12 of the 14 never having played before we have a winning record - something to be said for that! And we have a great support group in Jamie Vohs, Darcy Davis, Julie Holden and the parents.
"It's been a special experience for Des and [me]."
