News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The 20th Annual Country Fair and Art Show is set to roll at the Episcopal Church in Sisters August 7-8.
Festivities kick off with an artists' reception on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., which includes refreshments and a silent auction. Patrons are invited to come and mingle with the artists. The Art Show continues on Saturday along with the popular Country Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The art show and sale includes participation from many outstanding regional artists and there is a diverse collection of original high-quality oils, watercolors, pastels, photography, sculptures, outdoor art, jewelry and other fine crafts.
This year's featured artist is Kathleen Keliher of Central Oregon (see related story, page 3).
The art show is juried this year by noted Oregon artist Bill Hamilton. In his retirement, Hamilton has devoted his life to spending time in the outdoors and to his passion for his art, which often represents places he has been. Bill creates his wonderful paintings of the outdoors using oils, watercolors, and acrylics.
The Country Fair has long been a favorite event for old-fashioned small-town family fun. Fair-goers enjoy delicious ribs, bratwurst, homemade Marionberry cobbler, games, animals, cake walks, face painting, gently read books, and the Country Store.
All funds earned at this event are distributed to community support agencies.
The Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration is at 68825 Brooks Camp Rd., at the corner of Hwy 242 just west of Sisters. Admission and parking are free. For more information call 541-549-7087.
