News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Melodie Morrone passed away August 1, 2015 in her home where she was surrounded with love.
Nick knew her last moments were upon them. He took her in his arms, wrapped her limp arms and legs around him and breathed softly into her mouth. He relived the story of their first date, telling her to remember all those years ago when they were just teenagers. As he kissed her and shared his breath with her - she opened her eyes. Nick said there was a twinkle in them. Suddenly she responded by squeezing her arms around him and they shared one last kiss before she peacefully passed on. Nick laid on the bed with her until her transition was complete.
Also with them was their angel, Glenda Smith, who they describe as their everything person, their manager, partner, buddy, sister and soul-mate. As well as Bailey, their faithful goldendoodle companion.
Melodie moved to Sisters four years ago with Nick, when they opened Drawstrings of Malibu. She had been a driving force for the company for 35 years. When she got sick they brought Glenda into the company to learn from the God Mother.
Melodie is now in Heaven with their son, Nick Jr., and her parents. She leaves her husband of 52 years, Nick, and a daughter, Lisa Morrone, who lives in Redding, California.
Melodie was born August 9, 1947 in Fox Lake Illinois.
