News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Margaret Krebs Brockway (Meg) passed away from natural causes on September 30. She was 92.
Meg was born in Portland on September 29, 1923, the daughter of Julius and Carol Krebs. After graduating from Duniway Grade School and Washington High School, she went to Oregon State College, receiving a degree in Home Economics Education. While in Corvallis, she met Robert "Brock" Brockway, and in August of 1945 they married. The couple moved to Portland and had three children: Scott, Barbara and Janit.
Throughout the next 30 years, they lived in Pendleton and the Portland area. In 1978, after retirement, they moved to Sisters to a beautiful house on a small farm with a couple of horses and a great view of the mountains.
Meg spent her time in Sisters volunteering for both the library and the SMART program, playing daily tennis, and spending time with friends and family.
Meg was many things to her children: the Bluebird/Camp Fire Girls Leader for her girls, an incredible seamstress (Pendleton shirts for the guys), an avid gardener, bringing flowers to every occasion, over-the-top best leg wrestler and always a welcoming presence to all her children, her children's friends, and all of her acquaintances.
Meg is survived by her son Scott, and daughters Barbara and Janit. She leaves behind grandchildren Kelly, George, Kate, and Loryn; as well as great-grandchildren Rita, Vaughn, Zahra, and Wendell.
In lieu of flowers, you may donate to Friends of the Sisters Library Scholarship Fund. The family would like to thank Absolute Serenity for their care and support. The family will be having the Meg and Brock celebration of life in the spring.
