Kent Bowerly was born in Lake Benton, Minnesota, October 23, 1926, and passed away at his home at Eagle Crest Resort November 2, 2015 at the age of 89.
When he was 9 years old Kent moved to the Eugene area where he grew up with his parents, older brother and three sisters. He met the love of his life, his wife, Joanne (Peterson), while attending the University of Oregon. They were married September 11, 1948.
Kent worked for J.C. Penney for many years. He began working for Tollycraft Corp. in 1967 and retired in 1984 as Vice President of Marketing. He was an active Custom Gunstock maker 1958 through 2014 and a predominant member of the American Custom Gunmakers' Guild.
Kent and Joanne moved to Central Oregon in the early 1980s where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and many other outdoor activities.
Kent's strong Christian faith guided his life. He was an active member of Chapel in the Pines, Camp Sherman.
Kent is survived by his wife of 67 years; his daughters Christine (Allen) Fitz, and Susan (Steven) Larson; and son Daniel (Karen) Bowerly; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Sunday, November 8 at Chapel in the Pines in Camp Sherman. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Chapel in the Pines, c/o 300 W. Hood Ave., Sisters, OR 97759 or the church of your choice.
