News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
The boys basketball squad has been hard at work in practice, and is concentrating their efforts on their core values and figuring out their individual roles. Many new faces join the team, and the varsity roster is not yet set.
The Outlaws return seniors Steen Johnson, Hayes Moore, and Isaac MacKenzie. Senior Connor Lake is new to the program this year, along with Scott Waddell, a transfer from Pleasant Hill.
Juniors Keegan Greaney, Tyler Head, Ben Saba and Jake Larson will also be on the varsity roster. Sophomore transfer Taylor Scholl and freshman Jack Berg will also be battling for varsity time.
The Outlaws lost five seniors, and are currently working on different rotations. The point guard position will be shared by Greaney, Johnson, and Moore until someone takes on the full-time role.
Sisters lost a lot in their inside play from last year, and Coach Rand Runco said that they are untested at this time in that area. MacKenzie, Head, Waddell, Lake and several junior varsity players could move into those rolls.
"With this many new people, I see the line-up changing throughout the season," said Runco. "We have a combination of experience with many new faces. Our chemistry and work ethic will be deciders on how far we go. Last year, we led the state in defense. We have several players that can score, but need to put it all together. It's going to be an exciting season."
Coaching staff this year, alongside Runco, includes long-time coach David Godfrey, Bryce Alderman, Rob Meeter, Glen Herron and Don Pollard.
