Girls basketball drops game

The Lady Outlaws couldn't recoup from their slow start against the White Buffaloes at home on Tuesday, December 8, and lost the contest 52-37.

Sisters went down 15-7 in the first quarter, and by the half trailed Madras 25-13.

The Outlaws did much better in the second half, and were only outscored by three points. Sisters did have trouble at the line, and only made 13 of their 30 free-throw attempts.

On the positive side, the Outlaws played responsible defense, and only committed 11 fouls for the game, despite aggressive defensive play.

"We need to improve on our defensive transition, forcing teams to play against a set-defense, and we need to reward ourselves with rebounds after good defensive effort," said Coach Casey Pallister. "But, it was a definite step forward for us."

The Outlaws' posts continue to improve in their technique and physicality, and Pallister noted that Jules Meeter has really stepped up her game.

Olivia Stewart led the Outlaws with 25 points and went 11/17 from the free-throw line. Jules Meeter and Rylee Weber each scored four points. Seven of the 12 Outlaws were freshmen players, and all got minutes on the court.

Sisters was to play at Laâ¯Pine on Tuesday, December 15. The Outlaws will be in Seaside from Thursday, December 17, through Saturday, December 19, for the Seaside Invitational.
