New hair salon offers distinctness

Heather Buring, hair designer and owner of the new Aspire Beauty Salon in Sisters, has always been committed to bringing top-quality services to her clients.

Before settling in Sisters almost five years ago, Buring lived in Redmond. She graduated from Phagans School of Hair Design in Bend in 2005, and for 10 years she has been specializing in creating trendy hairstyles that let each client look and feel their best.

"Ever since middle school, my dream was to become a hair stylist," Buring said. "I would style all of my friend's hair. Then in high school, when it came time for the prom, I was busy creating new hair styles for friends."

Before opening Aspire last summer, Buring managed Amonte' Salon & Spa in Sisters for six years before they closed.

"Being the manager helped me learn how to run a business. It was an amazing opportunity for me and led me to opening my own salon," said Buring.

"I've had a lot of help from my friends in the Sisters community before I opened," Buring said. "My dad is an electrician and did all the electrical work for the salon."

Buring enjoys taking time with her clients to build a rapport.

"My focus is hair and I'm all about quality. When I get a new referral I ask them to bring in three or four pictures so that I know what they are looking for," Buring explained. "I spend a while with each client going over what would be the most practical for their hair type."

Many elements in hair dressing follow the same elements of art. Line, shape/form, color, value, texture, and shape perspective are all taken into consideration when styling hair.

"There's so much more behind styling hair than just how to style it. I take an artistic approach to hair design; it really is an art form, and I educate my clients on how to take care of their hair," said Buring.

According to Dictionary.com the definition of Aspire is: direct one's hopes or ambitions toward achieving something.

"I named it Aspire because I want everybody to achieve that hope they have for their hair, because having great hair makes my clients who they are, and it makes them feel good," Buring said. "If they can't do their hair the way they want it, then they are not feeling good about themselves."

Buring also volunteers in the Look Good, Feel Better program, trying to spread a little happiness styling hair and giving out beauty tips for cancer patients.

The Look Good, Feel Better program is a non-medical, brand-neutral public-service program that teaches beauty techniques to cancer patients to help themselves manage the appearance-related side-effects of cancer treatment. The program is dedicated to improving the self-esteem and quality of life for people undergoing treatment for cancer. Look Good Feel Better also offers programs for teens and men.

"I heard about it from a client who had cancer when I was a stylist in Redmond eight years ago," Buring said. "I'm so proud to be part of the program!

"I have always had the passion to make this world a happier place," Buring explained. "What could make you happier than to get a fresh new hair style or some rejuvenating hair color to make you shine?"
