Sisters music scene gears up for New Year's Eve

Sisters' lively music scene will get even livelier to ring in the New year on New Year's Eve, December 31.

Hardtails Bar & Grill at 175 N. Larch St. will feature live music with Tommy Hogan from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Raised in Texas, now hailing out of the Pacific Northwest, Tommy Hogan has been electrifying and captivating audiences since hitting the stage in 2011. The multi-talented American electric blues artist's impressive and original act has floored audiences across the region and has grabbed national recognition.

In just a few short years Tommy Hogan has won many prestigious awards, nominations in the business and won the hearts, attention and respect of legions of supporting fans and top musician peers and mentors in the business and is known for his professional crowd-thrilling, in-your-face performance that you will not forget.

Tommy Hogan has shared the stage and opened for Canned Heat, the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Tommy Castro, Bugs Henderson, John Mayer's group-members, Old Crow Medicine Show, and he has played guitar for Curtis Salgado, Paul Delay, Paris Slim, Jim Mesi, Sonny Rhoads, Bill Rhoads, Linda Hornbuckle, and many others.

Across Main Avenue at The Belfry, 302 E. Main Ave., Zydeco maestros Andre Thierry & Zydeco Magic will offer up an unparalleled music experience to close out 2015 and bring in 2016 in style.

A favorite from the 2015 Sisters Folk Festival, Andre Thierry is a phenomenal talent who has been capturing the attention of other musicians and music-lovers since he was a toddler. Andre's French Creole heritage is deeply rooted in Louisiana, although he was born and reared in northern California.

Michael Tisserand, author of "The Kingdom of Zydeco," considered the definitive book on the history of Zydeco music, wrote:

"In America, great migrations produce great music. Just as Delta musicians took Highway 61 to Chicago and electrified their blues, so did the Creoles and Cajuns migrate to California and establish vital dance communities. Now the California scenes rival anything back home in Louisiana, and that's due to players like Andre Thierry, a standard-bearer for the new generation. Thierry is among the best of both the West Coast and the Gulf Coast, and he combines youthful vigor with a mature appreciation for his inherited tradition."

Andre is a virtuoso on all the accordion types, single-row, double-row, triple-row and piano-key. He effortlessly moves across types to deliver an energetic two-step, traditional Creole waltz, hard-driving blues, or a blend that is his own sound. Although Andre's instrument of choice is the accordion he also displays talent on bass guitar, rhythm guitar and drums.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and music starts at 9 p.m. and runs till 2 a.m. January 1, 2016. For ticket information visit www.belfryevents.com.
