News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Hannah Tenneson, a senior at Sisters High School (SHS), designed and drew the 2015-2016 yearbook cover.
An avid artist, Tenneson created a cover that is unique and perfectly describes Sisters and SHS. The cover art features a herd of horses running in front of the Three Sisters. The yearbook staff asked her to draw the cover because they wanted the cover art to be designed and drawn out by a student, so that the yearbook will be more unique and special to the students.
"The technique (was to make) it more geometric and less realistic, but still relate it to Sisters and have it actually be an image unique to Sisters High School," said Tenneson. "I thought it would transfer on the front of a book really well, making it clearly black-and-white."
Tenneson plans to attend college and pursue a career in art. Jerry Baldock of Outlaw Photography presented Tenneson with a $100 scholarship for her cover art.
The yearbook staff looked at all aspects of Tenneson's cover and saw how well it would fit on the book and the image they wanted the yearbook to portray, and Hannah's cover was exactly what the staff was looking for.
"We loved her simplicity, yet detailed work. We felt it went perfectly with our theme and our vision for the book," said yearbook staff-member Maggie Bidasolo.
The yearbook will have a Sisters-oriented theme, with a unique design. The staff is looking forward to getting the book out this spring. To purchase the yearbook in advance, parents or students can pay $49.95 at the Sisters High School front office or visit www.yearbookordercenter.com and use order number 6493.
