News and Opinion from Sisters, Oregon
Nancy Jo Bailey passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2016 peacefully in her home in Sisters. She was 68 years old.
Nancy was born in North Bend on March 8, 1947, to Floyd and Bessie Hill. She had one sister, Carolyn DeRosa. All preceded her in death.
Nancy received a scholarship out of high school for beauty college. After working as a beautician for many years, she settled down to be a stay-at-home mom. She did not return to the workforce for 13 years, and then went to work for the Tioga Coffee Shop in downtown Coos Bay, where she met the love of her life, Wallace Bailey.
They were married June 13, 1986, in Reedsport. In 1989 they moved to Sisters and were happy to be in an area they loved so much. Wally preceded her in death in May of 2010.
Many will remember her from Coyote Creek Café, where she worked for over 20 years. She was a very hard-working, dedicated employee. She would always go above and beyond to help to make sure co-workers were successful with whatever they were doing.
Nancy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a kind and gentle person who loved spending time with family and friends. Those who had the privilege to know her loved and adored her. She always had a smile for everyone.
A few of her favorite things were her love of books, music, and spending time with good friends.
Nancy is survived by her daughter Michelle Gibbens; two grandchildren, Cory and Brendon Gibbens; and great-granddaughter Isla Jane Gibbens. She was also an important part of the lives of Wally's children, Debra Shingler, Terry Underhill, and Norman Bailey, who also have numerous children and grandchildren.
Nancy and Wally's ashes will be joined together with family on the Coast at a later date.
